VLC player or Gom player
Support Different Media Types
Along with different media format such as AVI, MPG, MPEG and DAT, GOM Player also supports streaming Windows media format (WMV, ASF, ASX). You can also watch DVD-quality videos with 5.1 channel audio output.0 -
Hi guys many thanks for your replies hopefully one of these will do the trick.
I have not installed a player for years and i am sure the last one was Power 'something' 4.It was all the rage then, wondered if it was still going but probably series 12 or some such thing.
And then you needed codecs and DivX software probably why i have never used it again.!!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Those two players dont need any additional codecs they use there own built in.
I personnel use vlcplayer but also have gom which is just as good as vlc0 -

If windows media player wont play dvds (Which it should) then it could be your drive is 'region locked':idea:0

Is that just a click to enable something? Its a Dell pc, about 3 years old. Or will I be going into the realms of the experts.
Well try the basic options first
But if its region locked then theres nothing you can physically do about it (Though I seem to recall a program that will circumnavigate the problem):idea:0 -

WMP does not play DVD by default in XP, it requires additional codecs. The K-Lite pack mentioned above should do it, or my preference would be to go with VLC.
The drive could be region locked, but that won't stop it playing DVD's of the correct region code.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
