Travel Insurance Company for pre existing medical conditions

Husband has had two sets of stents fitted in his heart and had one heart attack. I can only find one company who will insure (Staysure) - does anyone know of insurance companies who specialise in this. We are going to USA which I think is even more expensive. I wondered if anyone had any recommendations - I have been ringing round but quite a few of the big names wont touch him. Thanks in advance.

My step dad has also had problems with his heart and they have their travel insurance through their bank - I advised them to speak to the underwriters to ensure that they had cover to include the pre-existing condition and apparently it does. He and my mum are both in their 70's and travel world-wide, so this might be worth a try.

I will try and find out who the cover is with and post back but this may take a month or so as they are still away!

Why are you recommending the OP contacts a body whom you consider to be an idiot? Are you stupid?

I found Post Office (0845 606 2030) really helpful when I was waiting for a heart op, think it cost an additional £40 approx. You can get their standard policy online then you have to phone for the additional cover.
    Good luck

Fortis (Post Office Insurers) are a good company, I have a feeling they won't be that competitive on a heart condition for a trip to the USA.

You may find this info from the British Heart Foundation http://www.bhf.org.uk/living_with_a_heart_condition/recovery/insurance.aspx
