best way of ringing canada???

hi all you mse`rs out there i was just wondering if you could be of any help,
my brother has recently emigrated to canada and my mum is spending a small fortune ringing him nearly daily as she is worried about him (we are talking about a 6"5 more than capable 30 year old soldier here!!:rolleyes:) anyway my question is what is the best/cheapest way to ring canada from the uk so i can save my "doting" mother a fortune, thanks in advance:beer:

do they both have a computer, she could use skype. Or I see tescos are selling pc phones for about £12.00 which link to pc then all calls are free. Thats if i read the advert right.

mum n dad do have a computer but my dad has only just mastered how to turn it on and mum wont go near any electrical jiggery pokery as she calls it:rolleyes: so for the moment untill they catch up with the rest of the world i think its easiest just to give them a number to dial first, parents!

get a o2 sim and use the callchecker on the website for a free number to call abroad (if on contract) or at uk landline rate (if on payg)

Don;t forget to tell them they are all 'dial-through' numbers so BT's minimum call charge (5½p) kicks in as soon as they have dialled that (access) part of the number (i.e. before they start dialling the 001xxxXXXX part) so, even if the call fails, they'll see a charge on their BT bill.

I can call Canada for free on TalkTalk!

I dare say customer service might freak them out a bit though!!! LOL
