I had exactly the same problem on a new Dell 3 years ago - 1 raid drive failed after about a week."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Slightly off topic
I am running a raid 1 system and i would like to upgrade the hard drives to 1tb from 300gb. If i just take out one drive and drop in a new one would i be right is saying it would copy over a mirror copy then once this is up and running i could do the same with the other drive.
Would the fact i am not using 2 identical size drives be an issue? (ie the first replacement drive would not be the same size as the one its replacing)
Any help appricated
thanks"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0 -
I think you would only get 300gb of the 1tb drive unless you have 2 1tb drives and rebuilt the array.0

That's what happened to me.
I had a pair of 80Gb Raid 1 drives, and when one failed swapped I swapped them one at a time for a pair of 160Gb and they still show as 80Gb.
Never mind, they are still only half full.0 -
thanks for the comments. This is what i feared might happen"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0
