OP - I would stay clear of Partylite. Yes they have no initial outley but they want £300 of sales in your first party and loads of bookings. If not then they cancel your orders and try to put them through an existing rep  which obviously leaves you in an awkward position. The 'line manager' I had decided to defamate (sp) my name because I didn't have to correct 'attitude' i.e I wouldn't bully my mum etc into buying overpriced tat they didn't want.

    My personal experience!
I would never push anyone into buying anything they didn't want no matter what company it was - against my morals, I would rather have less sales and a good rep with people feeling comfortable with me to be honest.
It's a shame you had that experience :(
Personally I do love the products - I honestly wouldn't sell them if I didn't. I was once part of a company a few years ago, (the company wasn't well known), it's products were very tacky and their customer service was diabolical - I lasted one party, I just felt too uncomfortable because I didn't believe in it.

    I noticed that too.

    It's like flogging a dead horse ;)

We all know why they like using bright colours to get noticed

Jenny give it a rest for God sake :)

Erm actually I use pinks and mainly purples because they are my favourite colours - honestly no other reason apart from that I am genuinely a happy person, I didn't even think that way til you mentioned it and that really is the god's honest truth, lol!
I do post now and then in flylady,(house cleaning) on here and look for recipes but yes mainly I post about what I do - the same as others have done but as I said I can't really comment on other things I haven't experienced. If it's of use to someone great - if not no worries. I love my life as it is and small things just aren't important to me - life is too short :)

  • You might try Betterware? Bit of a slog but no costs to you; all books, stationery, etc. supplied free of cost and you get 20% commission on any sales. They reckon if you put 300 books out (and collect as many as poss back in of course! :D) then 'on average' the orders should result in £60 commission to you. Weekly orders so essentially you could earn your £115 in 2-3 weeks.

This a really good idea as you don't need a car.I did this about ten years ago and earned about £30 a week.So 4 weeks work:).I didn't have that many catalouges either. They give you a start up number but if you need any more you have to pay for them.Thats ok if you are going to continue working for them but if you just want to earn that amount of money I wouldn't bother.I found OAP's love Betterware and were my best customers. You are also doing them a service as many of them can't get out. It's also a nice way of meeting people. You get paid straight away as you collect the cash.(I am talking myself into doing it again lol). The downside is the weather and you do meet some grumps but mostly everyone is nice.Hope that helps you.:)

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

The problem with getting a job in a bar etc, is that I'm currently receiving maternity allowance from the govt and if i get a job that earns anything my MA will be stopped. Its currently £123 a week.

In my area there is people doing all the catalogues such as betterware avon etc. already.

My family is going to help me out by giving me old things to sell on ebay, 25% to Haiti fund and i can keep the remaining 75%.

i have a car and my sister suggested going to supermarkets etc. for eldery and disabled people in my area, but i wouldn't have the heart to charge them for doing it.

I would be a bit wary to do anything off the books as knowing me i'd be the one to get caught and that would really screw me!

i'd avoid the party plan/brochure drop schemes , when you work out how many hours you put in against the income you are looking at less than minimum pay per hour in my opinion

I think your ebay route is easiest , also investigate prices of stuff in your nearest pound shops against ebay prices , you will be amazed how much stuff goes for eg

is an pound shop item and they have sold 52

Could you perhaps take in ironing and laundry for people? I know many people who spend quite a bit on getting their shirts ironed.
  • Why not try cleaning? I pay my cleaning lady £11 an hour. As long as you are meticulous, I am sure that you won't have a hard time finding work. You can advertise yourself in local newsagents etc. Also, have you thought about babysitting for others?
  • Hi Metalgal, My advice would be go straight to your local fast food outlets ( not the ones where you have to fill out application forms, just takes too long ), who will more than likely take you on 'on a day to day basis', Thursdays, fridays and saturdays tend to be peak periods of trade for them, I know 'not the glamourous of jobs', but hey short term pain long term gain, It might get the cash your after in a few days.
  • If you're receiving benefits, are you even allowed to work? I have to save up a hell of a lot more, rent/deposit to move out.. I have to do like everyone else. Save.
  • a good advice .... sell sell sell whatever useless stuff you have, everyone has !
