    Hi
iTunes is made to run on Windows and Mac computers.
There are some people that claim to run iTunes with Linux using 'Wine'.
Not the latest version 9, older ones such as version 7.
But I've never got any of them to work with Ubuntu Linux.
Most Linux people like me use different 'ipod managers' to transfer files on and off their ipods, but these don't connect with the iTunes system for downloads.
So my answer to your question is, no you probably can't load iTunes onto that Acer Aspire.
Maybe someone else will come up with a solution for you though.

Rythmbox and Amarok are also quite good, but IIRC Banshee has the best Ipod support, as cyberbob suggests.

If you don't seem to have any option to add or remove software, you probably still have the limited user mode selected (the default, I think called Easy Mode).

If you do an internet search for "Acer Aspire Linpus advanced user mode" you will find plenty of guides on how to select a much more functional user mode. Be careful how you use it - there is more potential to do things that you may not fully understand!

But there are currently no Linux programs that support ipod touch (at least, not without jailbreaking)
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
    Now 20% cooler

Not true. gtkpod will. See here: http://ostatic.com/blog/linux-and-your-iphone-ipod-touch

btw, it worked on my iPod Touch which is not jailbroken.
