Costa del sol Airtours Mess up

I booked a 2 bed self catering 4* holiday to costa del sol in January, we specifically wanted 2 bedrooms as the kids do not sleep well together and we wanted a hotel with kids clubs and a morning creche for our 2 year old. We have been looking forward to it for months, I've booked car hire at just under £200 for the week, a meet and greet parking service at the airport and we have a travel lodge booked in manchester for the night before as it's an early flight, so we were all ready. HOWEVER today the phone rang, it was airtours to say there has been a contractual error and there are no 2 bedroomed apartments, the alternatives were, we all cram into a 1 bedroomed apartment, or we can go to a differnt hotel in costa del sol and have 2 bedrooms but no kids club, or we can have a refund, whatever we decide we will be compensated £60.

I am really not happy with any of the offers, if we take a refund plus the £60 compensation, we have still lost out because of the car hire, parking and travel lodge that we have already paid for, is well over £60, What should I do

Thanks in advance.

why not have a look at doing a diy, bookingyour flights yourself and then looking for a hotel which has a kids club.

Tell them what you want and see what they can come up with. " a contractual error" does that mean they cocked up?
Putting a bit of pressure on by saying that you will consider taking them to court for loss of holiday, stress etc you are also thinking of contacting a national newspaper to tell them what poor service you have had.

I think they should look harder to find a 2 bed apartment. Be friendly and try and persuade them to find something closer to your needs.

I take it you are going school holidays? I am a travel agent (for my sins!) and they have to offer you something of the same standard, if not higher. If the 1st offer does not suit you, ask them what else is available. I know it might not be what you want, but would you consider an alternative destination? Also, make sure they offer you the same discounts/offers that you got when you 1st booked. They normally take the cost of what is available from your original date of booking. (which should be lower than now, due to 'new' editions brochures being released.
Tell them about the loss of monies for your car hire & o/nt hotel.
I know the £60 is !!!!!! compensation, but they will refer you to the terms & conditions, and unfortunately, 9/10 they are well within their rights.
Finally, it may be worth calling local travel agents to see what else they can come up with, time consuming I know, but 'Airtours' will obviously only check their own system. And as you probably know, there are loads of tour operators out there.
    Good luck!

in my opinion the first offer will be the worse. check your local Citizens Advice Bureau and find out your legal rights. I think they should offer you the same or better as per the previous poster

    good luck xcrazyx
