We have just applied for LHA, we are a married couple with 1 son and another on the way.
I thought we qualified for a 2 bed room rate but my letter just got says only a one bed rate.
What should I do now? Its not enough to pay my rent and Im unemployed

Assuming your child lives with you, you should get the two bed rate. You need to contact your LA to advise them of their mistake.Gone ... or have I?0

You will need to make up the difference. You won't get the 2 room rate just because the 1 room rate isn't enough.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Pfft, if he's entitled to the 2-bed rate, suggesting that he makes up the difference is a bit daft.
OP, it's probably a mistake. I've also seen 1-bed rate paid as an interim arrangement where the LA are still waiting for proof that you have a child, ie proof of child benefit. The logic being that at least they are paying you something, which is better than nothing whilst they wait for the proof they need, but they aren't risking an overpayment because as a couple you would be entitled to the 1-bed rate anyway. Does that make sense?
Either way, it should be easy to sort out with a quick phone call on Monday morning

As others have said, it must be a mistake. You would be entitled to one room for you and your spouse, and one room for your child.0
