in Credit cards
Hi i was wondering if to make a balance transfer both cards had to be in my name? Basically my current BT offer has expired but my partner has just received a good offer through from her provider, is it possible to transfer my card balance to her card? We are not married but live at the same address and share financial assosiation!
Any advice would be great.

You can transfer the balance normally on any CC but once the transfer has been done then your partner is fully accountable for the debt0

I transferred a cc balance to a new card in hubbys name. He was aware and agreeable!!! I paid it off via standing order at 0%. Could have been dodgy if he had done anything bad while I was paying it off though!!!!!!TRYING VERY HARD TO START SAVING!

oh i was just logging on to ask the same question..well, almost lol!
My oh has a 0% balance card for 14 months- got it in November.
Would he still be entitled to move another blanance trans 3 months after he opened the account?
Basically he owes me £400, i owe my cc £400 so he suggested just moving my balance to his 0% card so he no longer owes me and he can pay it back over the next 11 months.0 -

Depends entirely on the card, normally a time limit on when you can make the transfer e.g. Virgin is 60 days from account opening. He should look up the summary box of his card or even better, phone their CS people to ask them."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -

To add to above...he will not be able transfer to cards from the same stable.0 -
The name doesn't get checked through the BT process. Banks will usually insist that both cards are in the same name, but if you just tell them that both cards are in her name that will be fine.0
