Hargreaves Lansdown £25 offer in lieu of Error

I am a private small investor with an internet Acc. with Hargreaves Lansdown. I came on line at about 08.05 one morning late Dec. last year to find Cybit shares had jumped about 50p from the last time I looked turning my £100 odd investment into over £6000. I did a deal at once to sell £5000 through my net Acc. which was accepted. I promised must of this money to a member of my family.
Over half an hour later the phone rang and I was told there was a consolidation 50/1 that morning so the deal was off.
My beef is I thought the stockmarket worked on MY WORD IS MY BOND. I knew nothing off the consolidation and feel that after that long over 30 minutes the deal should stand and that an offer of £25 is an insult. If I made a mistake would they let me of after the deal was over half an hour old I think not.
Any help or ideas would be welcome.

I think you are right and it could be worth sending aletter to top management stating facts and "word is my bond" arguement. IT cannot do any harm especially if you stress disappointment causedetc.

I agree with what Elona says, dont put up with a measily £25!!! >:(
