How much do you spend per year on car servicing/repairs?

Not alot at all. Every car iv owned has been for about 2 months and been bangers. The van i have now and iv had 7 months has cost at least £400 in repairs. Hit a ditch though. And mot is due soon, that will be another £400 at least i think, im dreading itWork in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Mine's a company car so I don't pay anything but I notice the cost of servicing has come down, longer service interval too. Still I will get a shock when I have to budget for repairs and servicing if I run a private car.0

last year £150 for a fuel pump and £50 for MOT,and exhaust downpipe and maniforld costing £160 i think.and £30 for service parts.
the year before, 4 new tyres and MOT again and service parts £30.
so far this year nothing,ive cleaned up the back brakes and adjusted them myself,but im sure i will need the rest of the exhaust this year at some point which is around £120.
servicing is parts only as i service it myself....work permit granted!0 -
Between Mots last year i think all i needed was a bulb, i've got a slow puncture at the moment so need that fixing.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

In the last 12 months.....
3x Oil change (filter every other change) & checkover £40 x 3
2 (4 as from next week) front tyres £160
Shattered idler pulley, shredded surpentine belt £120
1 mot... whatever that cost. No work needed.

We've averaged about £350 a year over the last six years since new, £200 or so for the yearly service, plus MOT's for the past couple of years, tyres*, replacement cambelt when it was due, and the rear suspension bushed (and one wheel bearing).
Always allow for at least one new tyre a year when budgeting for car repairs/servicing imo, as whilst they should last several years of normal (even relatively high mileage) motoring, you can never tell when you're going to get tyre damage, so it's good to budget for it.
On our previous car we ended up having to replace the tyre on the front passenger side twice in about 3 weeks due to road debris (one was a chunk of metal we didn't spot in time to avoid), not happy about that at all
*Changed when they were still at about 0.5mm above the legal limit (we were entering winter and I quite like the idea of having the best possible grip on a wet road)
