Making a phone call is so confusing!!!!!

 Am I the only person getting confused about this phone call malarkey!!!

My line rental is with BT, my call are through Primus and I use 18866!! Yet I think I am spending more money than ever!!!

Just logged on to read the new article regarding home phones.......yep even more confused!!

I would be very grateful to anyone more experienced than me to offer any assistance. I am trying really hard to be a good money saver....with a 4 yr old and a new baby I need to be!!!

Welcome to the MSE forums tab4.

Which Primus package are you on?

If it's Primus Saver Option 2 - which Martin recommends in his article - you should be getting free evening and weekend calls to UK 01 & 02 numbers.

Using 18866 for your weekday daytime UK 01 & 02 calls should mean they are costing you 5p each (there's no limit on call length or any 'per minute' charge after the 5p connection charge).

However, www.call1899.co.uk is better value and safer. 1899 charge only 3p connection and there is no possibility that you will misdial and get the 118866 Directory Enquiry line (£1.50 as soon as you connect).

Is the additional expenditure on 07, 08 or 09 calls (which are the costly ones)?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
