I think most areas do bidding these days, all the councils I looked at did anyway, so could be in a refuge for ages!katiesmummy wrote: »Well thats a positive then- you are pretty much guaranteed help from the local council. How long you will have to wait depends on a few things- how long your tenancy with the refuge is, whether you are on the bidding system or the points/band system. I was very lucky- in band b and got housed literally a week before the bidding system came in. Once you are on the list, if its the council who allocates you somewhere to live it should be quite quick- I had the letter offering me my house within a week. You have to take whatever you are offered though, even if you don't like it (only downside to the council allocating you somewhere), but again I was really lucky as I love my house and the area (apart from noisy students lol)
stay strong hunni xx

Not necessarily- it depends what band your placed in, if you have medical issues etc etc. I was on anti-depressants and sleeping tablets while I was there which put me up a band. SS can advocate on your behalf with the council to get you out of there as quickly as possible too which again could mean you're banded higher2011- new year, new start.

I dont have any medical issues as such but a main focus on the plans is to get my eldest settled asap as he has really suffered with all the upheavals etc, I can only but ask.katiesmummy wrote: »Not necessarily- it depends what band your placed in, if you have medical issues etc etc. I was on anti-depressants and sleeping tablets while I was there which put me up a band.
