Low memory message

I have an Acer Aspire running Vista home basic. I keep getting low memory warnings. I have 69.55 GB usable hard drive capacity but its partitioned and the C drive only has 500MB free space. The D drive has about 33 GB free so I was thinking of trying to move 10Gb from D to C using Easus partition manager. Is this a good idea or is there a good reason why the computer was partitioned in the first place? Is it a relatively straightforward operation?

Just move some files from the C to the D drive with drag and drop. Also use CCleaner to remove temp files as sometimes the temp folders can have 100s MB in it
I find that pictures and music, movies are best put on the D drive anyway, incase windows throws a fit and you have to reinstall you dont lose them or spending extra time after your 3-4 fun filled hrs installing windows then all the updates, to then add your music and pics back. Back them up anyway but it makes it easier.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
Is it low memory message or one to state your running out of hard drive space (Either way you really do need to clean up C drive)
How much RAM does your computer have?
CCLEANER should create a little bit of room if you dont already use similar
Download CCLEANER
http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds/downloading-slim
Run the CLEANER scan (UNTICK 'cookies')
Then run the REGISTRY scan (Backup the registry when it asks):idea:0 -
I've used CC, I have 1.5Gb RAM is there a problem moving memory from D to C?0

Don't confuse RAM with Hard drive space. Windows uses the C drive to create virtual ram (basically saves some of the info from RAM to the harddrive) Windows has a real problem when the C drive space is low. So moving music and photos to the D drive gives you more space on the C drive for windows to use.
You could benefit from having 3 GB RAM which will be removing the 512MB RAM stick and replacing it with 2GB stick.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740 -
I would say would hardly benefit at all from having 3 gig or RAM
Clearly what you should be looking in to is backing the files up so you can physically clear space from both drives
But for now, as above, just shift files from C to D:idea:0 -
I'm sure you can also move your Windows profle to the
drive, as this itself is probably taking a lot of space. That way, as well as freeing space, you would not lose you profile if you needed to re-install windows.
