Does anyone know the procedure for changing planes at Dubai for onward travel to Australia? Do you have to collect your luggage upon arrival in Dubai and then check-in again? Is the same procedure in place for the return leg of the journey?

no you do not have to collect you luggage at dubai - it gets transfered onto the next plane by emirates if they are doing the onward journey. you can jsut go and look round the shops or rest til your next flight is called.£27.76/£2018 in 20180

Thanks for the quick response. It is not me who is going there (unfortunately!)
Do you have to go through immigration or anything at Dubai?0 -

The only thing they will have to do is go through security when you arrive and then go on to your next departure gate. Everything is clearly marked. Best thing to do is find your gate as some are a 5 minute walk then they can explore the many duty free shops.0

There's a gym at the airport which is air side IIRC so you can have a swim if you want to stretch your limbs.0

Do they have a through ticket? If so they should be OK.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Not sure if the time between planes will be the same, but Emirates put us up in a hotel overnight in Dubai last year.0
