LA fitness putting fees up

Hi all
MY husband and i took a contract out with this gym june 08. the term was for 18 months at £33 0% APR incl VAT.
when the VAT went down to 15% out fees were never reduced
Now when we've checked our bank today they have put the fees up to £38.
we have had no prior notice of this, can they do this with out warning plus would this be the 2.5% VAT increase.
thanks in advance

  • Hi
I had a letter a couple of weeks ago from LA Fitness saying price was going up due to VAT. I only joined during the period of reduced VAT so assumed prices had been reduced in Dec 08. If not I think they're chancers (although I'm still waiting for a refund due since July 09 so I'm not surprised really).

well theyve added the 17.5% on top of our fees and not the 2.5% VAT that its gone up by:mad:
Just think it daft. they don't even lend you a towel any more there's a charge for using one (I take my own).
werestill waiting for the 2.5% back from 1/1/09 till 31/12/09

It looks like you are now out of contract. Do make sure you have not been bounced into another deal at a higher price

As DVardysShadow said, this would now be your 19th month if you joined in June 2008, so you've probably gone onto their current monthly rate.

If you want to cancel, check your T&Cs very carefully to see how much notice they require, and ALWAYS send a cancellation letter by recorded delivery, otherwise I'll guarantee they won't receive it...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
