Working Tax Creds - can I get it?

Hi, I started working this week and have signed off JSA. I told the lady at the Jobcentre that I only have 18 hours this week as they want me to get used to the job first but then it will go up to 30+. She mentioned about WTC and said I should apply once I get those 30 hours (which hopefully will be next week). However Ive just spoken to my Dad who was told by his Jobcentre that if he gets a job for over 16 hours he would get £50 WTC so would be that much better off. I dont know which is right? Should I have applied already or do I wait for the 30 hours work rota?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

depends on your age and if you are a single person.
Lone parents, over 50's (after 26 weeks on benefits)and people with disabilites qualify over 16 hours. Single people over 25 qualify after 30 hours.0 -

has your dad been long term sick? If he hasn't then he will need to work 30 hours per week to be able to claim WTC.0

Hi check out entitled to.org it's really good with working out what you should be getting and is spot on most the time with Tax credits0

Yes it will be 30 hours before he can claim that. As you are a couple you would have to make a joint claim and your partners income will be taken into account also, the limit for claiming WTC is 17k0

Hi, my Husband isnt working at the minute so that wont be a problem.
I could have kept signing on until I get the 30 hours and I would get £5-£10 a week but I told them no, its not much and Id rather not have to keep signing to be honest lol.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
Hmm... Im a bit unsure now and wonder if Ive jumped ahead of myself a bit.
Ive received my rota for next week and its only 21 hours. Is there anything I can do with regards to signing off? I feel like a right wally now!
