Contiki holidays - advice?

I was thinking of taking a short travelling holiday around Italy with Contiki.

Contiki specialises in providing fun travelling holidays for young people. The itineraries look great, but the prices can be quite expensive. Maybe "expensive" is the wrong word, but they can be a lot of money to part with upfront. I guess I'm just wondering whether they are good value for money?

Has anyone had any experience of Contiki? Would you recommend the experience?

I used to sell them and thought they were a little expensive. However, most people who do it, absolutley love it. If you like a) Ozzies, b) getting drunk I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time. If you're keen to do it with other people then its definitely a good option. I'd try and haggle. Now I'm out of the game, try phoning them direct and asking if they'll knock the agents commission off. Basically its the same price whereever you book it but if it goes through an agent, contiki will pay them (about 17% i think). So ask contiki if they'll knock the commission off. If they say no, say well I'll have to book with the agent as they said they'd do me cheap flights if I got everything with them. Worth a try!

    That's a great tip and definitely worth a try.....thanks a lot!

I live in Amsterdam at the moment and was thinking about Contiki as a fairly last minute holiday option, just to do on my own. I've discussed going on holiday with friends, but we never seem to get anything sorted. So this would be something that I could quite easily sort out for myself.

And yes, I do enjoy the odd beer and meeting new people, so it sounds like a laugh.

Presume you're a fellow Evertonian with that name? ;)

A fellow evertonian indeed. Glad to have helped out someone with taste. Here's to the Champions League next season! (or maybe 5th is more realistic!)
