Have you looked at Argos? I bought something similar there a few years back. Though I have to say the Ikea quality is far superior, the Argos stuff was definitely cheaper and I don't mind having to fix the drawer bases back on every now and then. But it still looks fine. I did have to dismantle it when house moving, it didn't much like being manhandled but it's easy enough to put together again.

I'd probably go with Ikea next time, though the B&Q stuff looks nice, but pricey.

Good luck, I like that Shaker type of stuff too, it makes the bedroom seem light and airy and clean. Have you thought of buying plain wood and painting it yourself? That would be cheaper still.

You can set up searches on ebay that will email you when something comes up.

If you put in a search for Ikea Hemnes you will definitely find what you are looking for, if not locally immediately then very soon. I've bought all sorts of Ikea furniture second hand and also sold shed loads of it on myself. You pay a fraction of the new price if you just keep looking :)

I've had Argos furniture in the past, in my sons room, it was of bad quality and easily fell apart. I only bought it because I had Argos vouchers - but thanks anyway.

Good idea about checking on ebay, none for sale where I live though plus I'd need a van to pick it up as it wont be flat packed.

Anyone else with ideas where to buy this type of furniture?

How about tesco direct. we brought a couple of bedroom sets for the kids from there. DH will now only buy from tesco as he feels for the cheaper end of the market stuff its better then the argos stuff the kids had before. so far touch wood(18 months on) they are as good as when they were put together, which isn't bad going for a kid thats all but had a new bed every year since he came out of a cot. and i get the club card points which is a bonus

I have assembled both Ikea and Argos furniture and in my opinion the Argos stuff is very inferior to the Ikea stuff. The fixings are nowhere near as good on the Argos stuff.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I am furnishing a house from scratch and needed cheap furniture-I can keep maintaining it myself for free if needed. ANyway, I found some I liked in Argos and ended up buying it from the Homebase website-same company but it was cheaper on there. I know it's cheaper than the ikea stuff and probably won't ast as long but needs must when the devil vomits in your kettle!! :)

ETA duhhhhh meant to say it was white! It is the "Haven" range, think it might still be on the homebase website
