    Welcome to MSE seana,

As the others have noted, I would take further advice before paying off your debts with your savings.

£2500 is a lot to spend in one month when you are needing to claim benefits. I would contact CAB who can look at your individual circumstances.

No one can say how long your redundancy should last and thats why you need to seek help on what you are allowed to spend before spending thousands that may be seen as deprivation of capital.

Your wife can only be working for about 12 hours a week. Does your daughter really need two adults caring for her full time as opposed to supporting her financially?
  • As others have said, best to get proper advice.

One thought: if you are going to be the full time carer, then perhaps your wife could increase her working hours. If she works 16 or more hours then, because of your daughter's disability, she can claim working tax credit as well as ctc .
