serious problems with mesh computer

Options
I have a 10 month old mesh nero E5200 computer that has had problems from the start. Initially it was very slow and then gradually the screen started blacking out for a few seconds and then a message about display driver problems would flash up. However in the last couple of months it has got worse and worse. After being okish for a while the screen would start shaking and then freeze, although the display driver seemed to be ok. So far I have spoken to the technical department several times but the problems remain. I have also had it looked over by a reputable firm who tested everything and installed win 7 (they think its the motherboard and should return it to mesh who they rated zero), but again problems returned. I then posted a thread on mesh forum and was first of all asked to turn off aero and go back to basic. This helped with the freezing but the display driver then crashed every couple of seconds. I'm now back on aero and really dont know what to do next. One of the administrators on mesh forum said it sounded like it would have to be looked at by one of their engineers but I only have a basic warranty whereby I have to pay to return it for tests and they charge me if it's 'my fault'. Any last ideas before I do this would be gratefully received. I can follow simple instructions but i am not technical in any way! Thanks

 Did they not suggest a reinstall of the OS (Vista); what of an in-place reinstall; what of a system restore...

...although given the time lag, I suspect the system restore is now redundant.

On the basis of what you've reported (and the check by another firm) and the fact that the nVidia graphics are normally pretty stable that it is either the MoBo or the graphics card. If there is a problem with the MoBo then there isn't going to be anything you can do - it will need to go back to Mesh for them to fix (i.e. new MoBo).
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

It may be worth contacting the independent firm that tested it and installed Win7 to see if they will put in writing that they saw no evidence that the problems they encountered had been caused by you.

If so, then you can simply ignore the "basic warranty" and exercise your rights under the Sale Of Goods Act, as it quite clearly is not fit for purpose in its current state. Note though that you will need to do this via the company that you bought it from if you did not buy directly from Mesh. If not, you only have to get it back to the company that sold it - returning it to Mesh will be their problem, not yours.
  • Thanks for help. The 3rd party did say they would write me a report to send to Mesh so that's what I'm going to do. I will report back in a couple of weeks after a recuperating break in Tenerife!:j
