0845 call charges - Tiscali / Pipex

According to the call checker Tiscali is the best for weekday and evening 0845 calls @ 2p. But when I looked up the Tiscali site the daytime tarif displayed was 4 p with a 9.25 p connection charge. Looks like I have misunderstood something.
I believe that Pipex is (or was) part of Tiscali so I wanted to check their 0845 rates also. But I get the impression that they go to great lengths to conceal these rates from those that try to look them up online.
May be one of you expert readers can give me further guidance!

I'm not an expert - but the ambition is there!0 -
Don't Talk Talk own them both now?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

[I had to edit your quote - the system doesn't allow me to send links]
Good for your "expertise"! I got misdirected to mypipex something which was a dead end.
I now wait to see if 0845 Pipex @ 3 p is better than Tiscali @ 4 p plus connection charge .. Hope someone can clue me up.Telegraph Sam

Why does the MSE call checker tool list BT @ 3.95 p for daytime 0845 calls whilst my understanding of the BT website is that these cost 2p?
Some providers such as Pipex also charge 9.25 p connection charge which throws the comparison a bit but I cannot see if BT does likewise. Is anyone any the wiser?Telegraph Sam

I'm not sure about the costs, but I always use https://www.saynoto0870.com.
It often lists geographical or freephone numbers for most companies.0 -
Heres a good site to check UK Suppliers prices: http://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/0

BT charges the same (and will charge 9.9p from 1-4-2010).Telegraph_Sam wrote: »Some providers such as Pipex also charge 9.25p connection charge which throws the comparison a bit but I cannot see if BT does likewise. The vast majority of BT customers are on one of its Calling Plans where the cost of 0845 numbers is up to 2 pence per minute.Telegraph_Sam wrote: »Why does the MSE call checker tool list BT @ 3.95 p for daytime 0845 calls whilst my understanding of the BT website is that these cost 2p?
Those on older "non-discounted" tariffs pay up to 3.95 pence per minute.0
