Help please

My brother had a message on his computer to say "does he want to compress files to save space on his hard drive" he clicked yes and he is now is unable to boot his pc as a messages reads "BOOTMGR is compressed". How do we undo this action please? Hes running Windows XP. TIA

    you could try starting safe mode with command prompt and decompressing that way if it dont work then i would say get the windows xp disk and pick the first repair option which takes you to a command line also but not with windows loaded that way you can delete and recreate it if it fails safemode.
