train ticket help please

Hello, i wondered if i may ask for some help. I am still looking through the list of how to do it but to be honest it has muddled my brain cells at the mo,lol.

A family of 6, 4 adults and two children. We have a friends and family railcard .also have network rail card.
I dont mind how many changes or if some or all is coach.
We cant fly as we dont have passports.

we are leaving Hitchin Herts and going to Southampton central

We want to leave late friday 26th March and return within the week.

Also is anyone Knowledgeable about getting to Hythe? We went via the ferry last time which was pretty expensive.

I know its another ask but could you explain it as simply as possible.

Not an easy journey to do cheaply, but:

look at Southern trains from London VICTORIA to Southampton. The walkon fare is cheaper than the direct trains and there can be very cheap advance singles

look at megatrain from London Waterloo to Southampton

Don't know of any way to do Hitchin London cheaply though
