  • We're having a 8 piece band and they are charging £1500 for the evening. They play for 3 hours and provide a DJ in between so happy with the price as they are excellent.

Three piece band for £600, singing DJ (sounds wierd but he's fab!) £200.
  • The hotel I used to work in included the DJ in the wedding package - think he was about £200 and pretty good (I didn't get sick of him after working there for three months in peak wedding season so he must have been all right!)

My fiance's 4 piece covers band usually charge £100 per head unless it's exceptionally far for them to travel so ours will be £300 and I may let OH drum for some of it to show off ;)

Band prices are so variable! My OH is an music/entertainment co-ordinator and the bands can vary between £300-£2000 dependent on so many variables.

OH is a dj and charges £250 - no matter what - just because its a wedding shouldn't increase the costs (that makes me so mad). You can get cheaper...but make sure they have PLI and equipment is PAT tested.

I personally like the cover or swing bands as I find they provide a good cross section. Definitely try and get to see any bands in action first (demos don't really give you a feel for how they interact etc) or go via an agency for peace of mind.

Just to pick your brains......My H2B is currently starting up a wedding band, they are just getting there song lists etc ready and their websites etc. If you hired a band what songs would you want to hear them play?
They are having a difference of opinion about it at the moment. I personally like pop type music so if I was having a band I'd want them to play Popular chart type stuff. But obvioulsy not everyone is the same.
