Hi
Some friends of mine have just had an offer accepted on a house so should very soon become home owners! they currently live together but with his parents so its not the same as living alone.
I want to make them a goodie box for when they move in of useful things that you NEVER have enough off. Spend around £20-30
Im thinking things like washing up liquid, chopped toms, matches, batteries, pasta etc. Useful things that you cant live without but might not think of as newbies.
Any ideas most welcome!

Could you check with their parents that they aren't doing the same kinda thing? When I moved out my mum did this for me and I think it's more traditional for one of the mums to do it? Wouldn't want you to put loads of effort in and find the mum had too!

Personally I'd have said something like a recipe book (a handwritten one - not a shop bought one!) would have been far more welcome - OR even better - a weeks worth of freezer meals - home made ofcourse!
Ideal for when they're too knackered to cook after the move

I have both done and received this....!
Some ideas.....
Bin bags
Kitchen Foil
Bottle opener
Dusters
Polish
Bleach
Toilet roll (always handy!!)
Washing up Liquid
Torch (I got given a wind up one so that I dont need to find batteries)
Tesco and Dunelm Mill both have a "cleaning event" at the mo, where things like this are quite cheap - so your budget would go further...!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Loving the ideas, i was thinking of lots of small things which even if someone else does the same it wont matter. Might cook them a couple of meals tho for the old freezerCrafting for 2009 items doneOne patchwork blanket, two neck supports, one tea cosy, one knitted bunny, one knitted egg!0 -

A tape measure too!! (they have them in wilko for about 30p!)
The friends that I made mine for, I made it their "emergency moving in box" - so it had everything you would need for the first hour before you unpacked any boxes.....so coffee, tea, long life milk, sugar, mugs, teaspoons....then I put some other stuff like dusters and polish and bin bags. Maybe wooden spoons???Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!!
