Money Moral Dilemma: Would you replace the shoes?

No. it's about time people realised that accidents do happen.0

I dropped a shoe (a slip on/off! sandal) under a train and the staff simply fished it out for me with a long-handled grabber, before the train left the station. She should get a life, accept that accidents do happen, and either get off the train to retrieve her shoe, or if too late, get off at the next station, explain what happened to the staff there who should telephone the other station, and return to collect her shoe. Of course the gentleman should apologise profusely and be more careful in future.0

He should definately not offer to buy new shoes - he should simply point out that if she has contents insurance on her home the policy should pay for replacement shoes:j0

Depending on his personal insurance cover, (some come with certain types of credit cards and various bank accounts), he might very well be insured against any loss. In the interim however both should leave the train and he should seek assistance on her behalf.0

I would offer to pay part of it - it's not all my fault, and she did wear shoes on public transport that come off easily (you should know better than to wear loose sandles or clogs - it's almost happened to me
) - but would make a contribution, maybe £15 as a good will gesture.

No, she should wear shoes that fit. It's every man or woman for themselves on the tube.0

No way!
Accidents happen.....particularly to people wearing badly fitting/inappropriate footwear. I would apologise in the first place....but if she started hurling accusations of fault around I'd soon be thinking "serves her right, daft mare".
She could always try making a claim again the train operator.....health & saftey/overcrowding on trains/could have been much more serious???0 -
Hahaha I'd be laughing too hard to do anything else!!0

Yep, it doesn't actually say where this incident took place.0 -
No he shouldn't as it was an accident. He should just apologise and let her deal with it.0
