Are book misprints valuable?

Options
Didn't know where to put this ... or how to find out ... but I thought if anybody knows, it'll be MSErs :D

I've picked up today a copy of the paperback book "Sepulchre" (by Kate Mosse). But the front cover and spine are a misprint, in that it is missing the title of the book, author and main design (basically the gold printing is missing).

Is this likely to be valuable?

Is its value more likely to go up the longer I keep the book?

Any ideas where I could find out more? I googled a combination of the title, author and "cover misprint" and couldn't find anything useful.

If all else fails, I'll stick it on eBay and see what it goes for! :D

Well, you could start with looking it up on http://www.bookfinder.com/ and see what it returns. You need to note carefully the publisher, print run sequence etc...I have several uncorrected proofs and the only ones worth anything after by niche authors with a dedicated readership (e.g. sci-fi) and are from their earlier back catalogue. But, always worth a little research.

It does rather sound like a proof, I'd ask on the Amazon seller page on Amazon as there are some real professionals on there.

However from experience modern 1p novels rarely achieve any rarity value despite major publishing faults as they don't appeal at all to real collectors.
