Right, wondering if anybody could help me-
I'm waiting on a new bank card to be delivered to my local branch, it was due in on Tuesday. Today is payday and I'm supposed to be going to London for the night tomorrow. Anyway went into my local Abbey at lunch at the card hadn't been delivered.
I asked the woman if I could withdraw my money out over the counter and she said no. Apparently my passport and knowing my account details isn't enough for them, even though I was told over the phone when I was ordering a new card that all I needed was passport/drivers license.
I've managed to have two random letters delivered from abbey by my OH but instead of checking what he was bringing in first, he's just brought me two things with the words 'abbey' and my name on them. So now I'm sat here with my passport, a letter telling me that my new card is being delivered last Tuesday and a statement for my other (linked) account- do you think this will be enough to be able to withdraw money?
Not a happy bunny!

Do you have access to oline banking? set up a "faster payments" transfer to a friend/lover and they can withdraw for you. A bit inconvenient - but allows you to have your weekend.Official SOS Club number 011 - Dry until 17/11/20090

Abbey don't do the faster payment thing. I've had this happen before... I'd lost my card and needed some cash so went to the counter armed with my DL but they wouldn't let me have anything. Called customer services there and then to have a whinge and they agreed to let me draw out some cash, but would only let me have £50.
I've never had this issue with Barclays, they seem to be much more human :-)0 -
CHANGE your account to a proper BANK"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Abbey are awful!! Do you have a cheque book with your account? If you do they will let you take it out with that although you might get away with taking the letter in along with your passport and a few things with your address on it so they know its you. I agree with above poster, change to a proper bank. Useless is an understatement!!:smileyhea0

Yep I am changing to a proper bank as soon as I can afford to get rid of my overdraft
they let me have the money by the way, think it was just the snotty useless muppet I spoke to at lunch- the guy that gave me my money was much more helpful!
