the major thing you have to look for when buying a computer is ram ram ram and more ram windows xp used to be capable of running pretty quick on half a gig of ram but vista is a very heavy OS needs a min of at least 1 gig of ram to even operate my suggestion to you is go for somthing with 3 gig of ram any more than three is a waste of do your reasearch you may be able to pick up a cheap laptop with 2Gb of ram installed and then buy a gig of ram and stick it in think of ram as your desk space the more deskspace you have the more room you have the more programs you can work with at one time ie listen to itunes while surfing the net and maybe also have a disk burning in the background and an email program running in the background if you want your pc to multitask then ram is your best friend my preferance is at least 2 gigs of ram any less than that with vista and your dealing with an oversized calculator hope this helps0

Personally would say that AMD is not a great processor to go for, if you want something for a decent budget on a brand make this might be worth an interest

imo, 300 is a real small budget to work on for a laptop, I've worked in the computer industry for nine years now if you have any questions feel free to pm me.0 -
