Help please!

My son has a laptop so we bought him a printer and I cannot install it.

I have tried with the disc; I have downloaded the driver from the HP site

It's a HP F 4580 printer.

The message I keep getting is Fatal Error then it tells me to go to the website where I need to look for infor on MSIBufferChm

but I can't find anything there.

Would appreciate tips/advice

Which Operating System? If it's Windows 7, are you attempting to download specifically the requisite Windows 7 printer drivers? You mention "the website": which website? HP? ;)

    Hi hun

    yes the HP website.

I initially tried the install from the CD then I have downloaded the one from HP AFAIK

    It's on Windows VISTA btw
(I did spot that bit) and got the correct driver.

I got the same error message both after the CD and the dowloaded driver BTW - exactly the same but can find no reference to it on the HP site.

I think that i would try the second one first.

the highlighted bit I have done

    still failed

I'll have a bash at the cleaner registry bit a bit later...
    to do then...

    fully uninstall all printer software
    reboot windows
    download ccleaner
run the cleaner and regestary fix
Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY
