Advice re mattress choice.....

...not wanting to change subject of others posts so have started this one. Hope that is OK.
Once again, read more and more posts on here and now concentrating on Kozeesleep mattresses (ones originating from Dewsbury factory-i.e. have listed those on their website then priced them up elsewhere).
Comments please as to suitability for following on a wooden slatted bedstead (bit disappointed to just find they will be ~3-3.5 inches apart-could put board as on our slatted base as problem with previous mattress or extra slats if deemed necessary). Daughter wanting medium to firm mattress.

http://www.bedsdirect.com/product.php?id=18711&o[]=55168 (elegance)
http://www.bedsdirect.com/product/Stress_Free_mattress-21633 (stress free)
(forgotten which way I have linked them now but the pinemaster says on Kozeesleeps website that it is for pine beds)
http://www.lazybeds.co.uk/product-info.php?pid1648.html (princess)
http://www.lazybeds.co.uk/product-info.php?pid1647.html (pinemaster)
(very different pic from company website - older product? as much cheaper than elsewhere too).
Hoping to get something ordered today so want to narrow down my final price search to one mattress if poss.
Many thanks

Shameless bump!
Would appreciate comments from anyone with experience/knowledge on above mattesses.
Have noted that lazybeds 'satisfaction guarantee' doesnt allow you to open packaging. If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -
The last one as a 12 guage spring which will be firmer (correct me if im wrong Tim)
Personally I prefer tufted mattresses (as opposed the the qulited/tack and jump finish, which these all are) at this price as it will hold the fillings together better and also give a firmer feel.
Comparing the ones you have listed id just go the cheapest. I dont see that much difference in specification.0 -
Thanks Greentea-not sure which of the Kozeesleep mattresses would satisfy wooden bed, hence i believe open coil, medium firm AND the tufted finish . Some of the descriptions didnt give me too much info so the ones I have pulled out of their range are ones that definately told me open coil/medium firm.To be honest didnt know what the difference was as to the finish you have mentioned so didnt count it in.
Will go back and try to decifer from Kozeesleep website. Really want to narrow down to one or even two mattresses then do final pricing but NEED to decide this weekend and order. If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -
All of the mattresses you have quoted are open coil sprung, so are suitable for slatted beds.
All of them are at the low end of the Kozeesleep range except for the Stress Free.
There are a couple of things published on the web sites quoted that are wrong:- The Elegance is medium to firm, and not firm
- The Princess is firm, and not medium to firm

You are right about the firmness.
The stress free is actually also available in a hand tufted finish.0 -
Much appreciated for your above comments everyone.Tim_Deegan wrote: »Just make sure you buy from a seller who gives a proper satisfaction guarantee that allows you to unpack and sleep on the mattress, as most don't.
Can anyone suggest a site in which they have seen such a guarantee (not asking you Tim as I know you can't recommend such things)? I only seem to come across those saying unwrapped returns only.
Will continue searching in meantime. If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0 -
Having narrowed down to the Stress Free Hand tufted Kozesleep, have just checked again the John Lewis mattresses and find one small double
http://www.johnlewis.com/230217295/Product.aspx
Bought our current mattress from them and have been very pleased but would say it was probably dearer than this and firmer.
This one says low to medium tension in the blurb but in the table medium and in the info on support for mattresses says all their mattresses are medium.
Any thoughts how this compares to the Kozeesleep one, both being available at £195 John Lewis and £199 Kozeesleep.
EDIT: Oh I am getting a headache. Now read people suggesting avoiding John Lewis BUT on a positive note, have found an online seller with satisfaction guarantee and many other 'plus points' Tim suggests
The best way to avoid being ripped off is as follows:- Buy on line from an independent seller who gives a satisfaction guarantee.
- If possible use a seller who accepts cash on delivery.
- Stay away from big brand names, and go for smaller independent manufacturers.
- Avoid gimmicks like pillow tops, and non turn mattresses
- Check the sellers return policy to make sure they aren't going to rip you off with a large return fee.
- If possible use a seller who delivers using their own transport, so you don't get a courier saying "not my problem mate, we just deliver them".
Only problem is that they only sell one of my original suggested mattresses which I have since disregarded. Have three others in my basket as possibles

If a mattress is £195 in John Lewis, then it would probably be the equivalent to a £120 mattress that you could find on line.
Out of those you selected I'd go for the Faye........but didn't you say you wanted the Kozeesleep Stress Free?0 -
Tim,
Your right, I had said about the Kozeesleep Stress Free and was going to go for the hand tufted one at £199 but cant find that on a site that has satisfaction guarantee.
I then found the 'Mattress Emporium' site and but the Stress Free wasn't on there so selected possible mattresses based on similar spec (i think) to the Stress Free. i.e. open coil, hand tufted, ~10" deep, 13.5 gauge medium tension (altho see the Sennett is 'slightly firmer than medium'-personally prefer hard mattress but 11yr old daughter doenst like ours hence going (reluctantly due to worrying it is must too flimsy) for medium-ish)
Hence the above three options from Mattress Emporium or the Stress Free from Bed Street or My Next Mattress.
So, Tim, taking into account all four and from where they are available as regards to satisfaction guarantee etc can you give me your final recommendation please?......can you tell I'm terrible at making decisions....If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0
