He is a carpenter. We set the business up with him having been made redundant twice in 10 months. It is a very difficult time for the trade - he was made redundant one day and we started the business the next otherwise we were going to lose the Tax Credits and as a result my daughters place at the childminders. x£10,000 challenge£175/£10,000:eek:Total Debt - £lots!:TWeightloss Challenge 11lb:T*Just because I rock does not mean that I am made of stone*0

I might be missing something but isn't it even worse than this - they are paying additional insurance to insure a van rather than a car, and £77 liability insurance which I assume is related to OH's job?
I forgot about them to be honest lol
Take into account the Liability (im not sure what extra they pay on insurance) then he gets £26 a month by going to work. take into account the insurance - lets say a tenner - thats £16 a month. If he has food at work . . well . . you can kiss the wages good bye.ceejaydee23 wrote: »mommyme thats why im finding things hard cos i was working 22 hours a week, and getting both, but now cos im living with my partner we only get TC, until I finish work when my Maternity Pay runs out, and providing my other halfs salary doesnt go up, then we should be entitled to WTC too, and also help with REnt and C/T but until then although not totally brasic, struggling (see my thread)
I think you need to think about whether it is WORTH you going back to work. I'll admit I didnt bother going back to work. I tried to. then one day i sat and thought about it and realised that by the time ive paid child care / petrol to work etc it wasnt worth it so i didnt - the other thing that was getting to me was that i was out from 8am - 6pm, getting home and putting my LO to bed at 7pm, i saw her for an hour a day! I went back to work in October last year, Im working part time (16 hours, 2 full days, one half a day) and the ONLY reason i have gone back to work is because the wage was £10ph then rises to £13 an hour. otherwise i would still be unemployed.0 -

Im sorry but what is the point in paying your child carer to have your daughter when your OH is working FOR NOTHING? He might as well stay at home and look after her. You would still be able to get some benefits0 -

thats exactly it it wont be worth it, as either id be back paying out 60 a month busfairs and no help either, only CTC like im getting now as my Full TIME salary wa only 660 take home or if i manage to afford to pay out 20 each driving lesson again and pay for my tests then i can drive, but if i do go back to work it would be somewhere more local and probably once little 1 is in nursery only another 3 n half years to go lol0 -

I know you're at work but if you get two minutes call 0845 300 3909 (tax credits helpline) and give them your figures and working hours. It should really help you financially. Sorry, I know I'm going on about it but the sooner the claim the more you're going to get because they can backdate your claim up to 93 days.
Hope you get the result you deserve.
