Nat West want proof that I am ill

I don't get DLA. As regards the fact that the DWP say i am not well enough to work cuts no ice with Nat West. Basically they want to secure my debt on my property and will do anything they can to ensure they achieve this. I have been trying to get them to accept token payment of £10 a month but they refuse (i pay it anyway) they are now going for a "forthwith judgement" as I cannot give them the whole debt in the next 14 days and of course they know full well I cannot do this. The stress is causing me to cry a lot, can't eat, have trouble sleeping. As regards the scipts I have to write an explanation of what each medicine is for on the photocopies. If I wasn't so stressed, I would laugh at this ridiculous situation. Anyway thanks for the supportive posts, much appreciated0

Don't do it. Some perverted junior brass hole is just getting a kick out of his newly invented method of harrassing debtors.yellowduck wrote: »I don't get DLA. This is disgusting, and something that I think MIND would be interested in, I think I read on here that they're doing a study about mental illness and debt.
One of my creditors asked for proof of my illness, I just ignored them.
I think people on here have given good advice, I wouldn't be happy with people who aren't bound by confidentiality having my medical details.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I can't offer any advice about the forthwith judgement, but you might want to put a post on the consumeractiongroup forum under legal issues. They may be able to advise on how to defend against this happening.

I would write to them via Recorded delivery.
Re-inforce that your on ESA and you are seeing GP/CPN/Consultants regularly. One of the conditions is depression and that you would like them to forward their official complaints porcedure to you. State that you are being harrassed and it is detrimental to your current illness and you wish it to be noted. Your CPN will however write you a letter as they are the ones who treat your mental health issues. Include this with the letter and add that you will not divulge any more private information that is not pertinent to the status of your current life style. In your letter add that you will only deal with them by mail and that no phone calls have to be made towards you unless you cal and specifically ask for a return call.
No Judge will find against you if you have record that Natwest is harassing you and ignoring supplied relevant information.
The most Important point is no creditor on th eplanet has the right to make you ill. Chin up, if need be come here for a wee moan, therapy is another name for a sounding board with a careful ear

They phoned me and suggested that I scan all the relevant documents into my computer and then email them over. I do not know the status and role of the person I am meant to be emailing although she assures me that once she and her manager have seen all my evidence it will be destroyed. She has told me that they are putting a hold on the legal action while they wait for me to prove that I am ill. I don't trust them at all. Thanks for all your suggestions, I am going to contact Mind. They are very good at the local Law Centre, but also very busy and I know that they will also assist me. Slept a bit better last night, really really appreciate being able to come on this site and get so much support.0

Get the name of the idiot who is sending you all this rubbish. Write to the Head of whichever Dept he/she works for and complain about them. Tell them that the manner in which they are treating you is causing you severe distress and worsening your mental/physical condition.
Remind them that , if they continue, you will report them to the OFT and then the Financial Ombudsman and will be seeking compensation.
:D stay wonky

If they phone again, tell them you will only deal with them by post in the future and then end the call. Hang up on them if you must. Then send the letter mentioned above that requires them to deal with you by post only.
In the next letter you send them (as you don't deal with them by phone any more!) tell them that they have your permission to contact your doctor to discuss the validity of your illness, and give them your doctor's name and address. Tell them (don't ask them!) that you will no longer listen to requests to discuss your medical affairs from natwest, and in fact will regard any further requests as harassment which you will complain about. If they have a question about that they ask your GP from now on, not you.
Let the doctor know that natwest will be writing to them with your permission and why, so they can hopefully compose a suitably scathing reply for them.
Hopefully if you do this, you will start to take a bit more control of your "relationship" with natwest and hopefully feel better for it. You may have problems with repayments for them but that does not give them the right to bully you - nothing does.yellowduck wrote: »She has told me that they are putting a hold on the legal action while they wait for me to prove that I am ill. Definitely get any help and support Mind offer. We all need help now and again, and that is one of the reasons they are there. I'm sure they can help you build a complaint letter - which should be sent separate from the other letters I mention telling them that you'll only deal with them by post and to contact your doctor about your illness instead of hassling you.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I really feel the frustration for you mate. I think the main thing you need to remember is stay calm. I think you could still take to them on the phone / email. But make sure you make a note of their full name, dept, direct telephone number / email, time and date you talk to them and also make a record of your conversation. Remember full name and dept is extremely important. They might refuse due to data protection !!!!!!!!, but then you can use the same reason to refuse to giving any further information they ask regarding your medical condition. Which is more private? Their full name or your medical history?0

Don't give any information via phone, you have only their word that they are who they say they are, and tell them you think they are 'phishing' for your security questions.
Tell them that you will only deal with them in writing.
Keep Full listings of any metings, letters etc.
Cheers, HG0
