Im sat here shaking and wondering if ive done the right thing (deep down I know) I an no longer put the inevitable off and decided to comitt to a self managed dmp and ive just sent the letters off.
Just now having to sit back and wait until it hits the fan. Letters I can cope with its the thought of all the phone calls which is making me jittery and the threats of court action.
But "ey ho" got myself into this mess can only blame myself and not the companies who lent me the money. Just didnt think far enough ahead when my income would reduce but not the debts.

Chin Up !
Loads of people on here have good advie , and when the !!!! does hit the fan , they will point you in the right direction re: harrasment letters etc0 -
The weirdest thing is that I have been panicking so much that it seem like anti climax now ive sent the letters. I feel completely "spaced out", and that its in their hands. Ive written to them suggested a pro rata figure and now its up to them, as ive been reading through these boards they cant get what I havent. Plus the offers are only just below the minimum payments, so Im hoping they go for it.0

If it's just below you should be ok, but then some companies are idiots.
The good thing is you're on the way, and in six months or so things will really have settled down (as in my experience).
Good luck.0 -
If I could just get 6 months grace of interest being lowered and at best stopped so my debts become manageable again I would be fine, cos 2 loans finish this year and I will have more funds available.

I take it you weren't able to get any 0% cards to transfer the higher APR debts to?
Hopefully things won't be too bad as you will be making close to the minimum payments.

No even though my credit was good never a missed or late payment they said I had too much credit and wouldnt swap. I have tried for a consolidation loan but the answer was no due to the same reason0

You may want to consider changing your phone number if calls become difficult. Then make sure that you only give the new number out to family or friends.
Alternatively, if you don't want to swap your number you could one of those phones that tells you the number of the person calling.
Best of luck!0 -
There are template letters on the board to stop calls. Let me know if you need them or if you've already sent them and i'll try to find them if required. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I agree. No need to change your number or worry about calls. With the data protection act if you ask for your number not to be used they have to abide by it or they can be fined by the Data Comissioner. There are template letters on the board to stop calls. Court Action whilst on DMP is possible, but so long as you pay all your surplus into the DMP there is nothing they will get from a CCJ as the court will only make you pay what you can afford, which is what the DMP is doing anyway.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
