Car Insurance - to claim or not
Hi i park my car (focus) on the street. Yday i discovered that someone had banged it. There is a dent and some of the color had come off.
I am not too concerned about the dent but i am not too sure with the color. I think it will rust if i dont get it fixed. i have not claimed previously so need some advise:
1) does anyone know how much does it cost for me to get the paint done. its about the size of a two fingers put togather.
2)do i need to call insurance company even though i may eventually decide not to claim on insurance?
3) Is it worth claiming on insurance or not? I am worried it will increase my premium next year. I am 27 and have had licence for 2 years. I paid 700 for comprehensive insurance this year.
4) If i claim this year do i lose previous year's no claims bonus as well or do i get to keep it?
thanks guys
dont know what would i do without this forum !!
Thanks

Just after I passed my test last year a driver came bolting down a small country road foring me to move over (even though there was a gap their side).
I scratched the car up a wall, causing minor scratches and there is a small one inch place there the paint has come off.
Was going to wait untill the ice/snow went untill i got the damage sorted. Last weekend my car was parked outside my grandparents house and it has now got a large dent in the side. No one left a note and i didn't see anything.
Took it to a garage and it is costing £350, my excess is £700 as i am a new driver so it would end up costing me so much more if i went throught them. Car is in the garage atm and am picking it up later today.0 -
Grab a touch up pen from Halfords, or even from the car dealership as they're sometimes cheaper. Or if the damage is on an easily removeable panel like a wing you could consider replacing it with a 2nd hand one.
Don't bother with insurance as the excess on a small mark like that will likely be more than the cost to rectify it. You could consider a quote from "chips away" or a similar mobile repairer.
Really it all depends how fussed you are about aesthetics. Personally I'd treat the bare metal to prevent it getting worse and leave it at that.0
