Charges are debited from your account at the end of the month after the thing that you are being charged for occured.

So if you're overdrawn in November your charge will be taken towards the end of december, which is what happened here. That charge took you overdrawn in december and you got the corresponding charge in January.

You will be charged again at the end of february so might I suggest putting £40 in the account to cover the january and pending february charge.

Then give nationwide a call and see if they will refund some of these charges as a goodwill gesture, but be nice, its up to their discretion. So getting on the phone in an abusive way won't do you any favours.

    Good luck! :)
