Really new to all this. I have a £2700 overdraft with my bank and wonder whether it's possible to transfer it to a 0% credit card - looking at the Virgin one. Can you shift bank overdraft amounts on to them? how?

Yes, virgin / MBNA, and also Egg allow this.

Once you (if you) get the card, simply call them and say you want to take advantage of a money transfer at 0% offer. Provide them your bank account number and sort code, the rest is history

You can't shift the overdraft to the card, but what you can do is BT up to 95% (usually) of the credit card limit to your current account as advised above.
There will be an approx 3% fee payable on the amount BT'd which will become 5% from March 1st if an MBNA stable card.

Eg. Card Limit £3000, BT £2700 to current account, 3% fee payable of £81, which should be a LOT less than your o/d charges.
