Hi I'm looking for somewhere to stay for one night on the way to France via Plymouth. We are travelling down from the North West of England and are looking for a nice hotel possibly around the Bath/Bristol or Cheddar Gorge areas. However I'm open to other suggestions of places to stay.
We will be travelling with our 19 month old daughter so would like to stay somewhere with a family room.
Thanks in anticipation

There's a Travel Inn in Portishead just off J19 of M5 - about 5 minutes from the motorway. They are normally clean enough. If it is a nice day, then you could visit the Lake Grounds which has a nice enough play area for your little one.
Or, about 10 minutes from the same junction towards Bristol is Redwood Lodge - hotel & country club. Not sure what it is like, but it does have a swimming pool.
PS If you are travelling soon, then please be aware of roadworks on the M5 from around J16 (Almondsbury Interchange (M5/M4)) down to J18. Average speed limit cameras - 50mph0 -
Thanks dangers. I'll check out the Redwood Lodge

this is great if you want to be in bristol
its around 50 a night the hotel is about 9month old it has free parking and its right at the bottom of m32 so dead easy to get to you dont even come off the motorway and its right opposite the new cabot circus shopping center where there are loads of resturants shops even harvey nicks if you get bored at night (its better in my opinion than redwood lodge which is a bit dated

Two of those hotels mentioned above are some distance from the motorway. I know Cadbury (is now part of the Hilton chain) - it is a nice hotel with leisure facilities but it must be a good 10-15 minutes from J20 of the M5.
For travelling to Cornwall, I dont think you would want to divert too far from the motorway if you are intending to get straight back on your journey the following day.0
