Can my daughter claim any benefits???

My daughter didnt go back to college in september and joined an agency, but they didnt get intouch with her with any work, other than a night shift which she refused, so we 'think' they took her off their books, therefore we do not get anything for her as she wasnt a student and she didnt claim benefits as she really wanted to work, but on the 6th of january my daughter had a sledging accident in all the snow we had, and has been off her feet for the last 3 weeks, therfore not available for work, but tonight we got a call from the hospital as she had an MRI scan on saturday and they now want her in in the morning and they are admitting her...they now say they 'think' she has a small break in the sacrum (i am very worried), so at the minute we dont know whats happening, but IF she is to be off her feet and not available for work can she claim any kind of sickness benefit given she hasnt worked and was at college 2 years then not claiming any benefits, ie unemployment???
She could do with a little money as its costing in pain killers ect, however i paid for her a 3 month prescription thing to make it cheaper for now.
Thanks
Michelle

She might be able to claim youth ESA. (employment support allowance) If she gets income based, she'll get the free prescriptions automatically.

RE: pain killers - can you buy them otc? Might work out cheaper.

you can buy co codamol approx £1
    hope she gets on ok
  • the co codemal you can get over the counter is a weaker version though (8mg codeine oer tablet vs 30mg per tab presciption), so if she is presrcibed painkillers is best to use the prescribed ones.

Thanksyou re the meds...she is on 30/500mg ones, she was called back to the hospital last week as they found out after the MRI scan that she HAS broke a bone in her back, so had to have a CT scan and wil ring once the back dr has looked at her results...luckily she was allowed home as when we got the call we were told she was to be admitted and when we got to the hosp we had to go straight to the orthopedic ward, but they were very busy and said she could go home, so we are going to ring tomoz to see if she can claim anything as not sure how long she will be out of action.
    Thanks again

Just to let you know i rang benefits this morning and they say she should be entitled and they can backdate it to the date of accident if i get the relevant sick note, so just been to GPs and DD is going to ring the benefits in a minute:D
