Fish pie is a good idea, Sue
He does like fish & I could use Jamie Oliver's recipe that sneaks in things like finely chopped celery & carrot. I have a Multi-Quick(??) chopper thingy that chops veg extremely small so that would be ideal.0 -
Couscous? With finely chopped bits of whatever he likes in it?0

If he likes fish that makes things a lot easier - it breaks down much more easily than meat or chicken. Fish and mash, fish and rice, fish and couscous. Finely chopping any veg and making them into a sauce will loosen it up a bit further, and get some extra nutrients into him without him having to chew at all.0 -
He's probably never tried couscous before, but it's definitely worth a try. Think I have an 'Ainsley Harriott' packet in my cupboard so will try him with that.0

My DH had oral surgery last year and had a piece of his cheek (about the size of a 50p ) removed. He survived on mash and fried or boiled/poached eggs on top.S/W -1, *-1.5, +1:o, -1/2, *-2, -2.5,0

but thought I'd flag this thread up again, just incase there are some day-time OS'ers with more brilliant suggestions!!

Similar vein my DD is due to have braces and has heard at school that you can't eat for a few days - does anyone know if this is so and will it just be soup for a few days, or will she be able to manage soft foods like pasta?0

Hi sweetserendipity, sorry to hear your dad is having all his teeth removed, I hope that the op goes well for him.
My OH’s dad had 6 teeth removed from the front of his mouth only recently and he said that initially the surgeon advised him not to eat anything to hot or too cold.
He has been eating what many others have suggested, fish, mash, chicken in tiny pieces, rice, rice pudding (lots of it) with a spoon and putting it too the roof of his mouth (IYSWIM). Your dad would probably find eating with a plastic spoon easier and so he can tip the food onto his tongue and suck of the spoon as depending on how sore his mouth is he may not want the prongs touching the gum or roof of his mouth (ouch). Hope I’m making sense here!
His dad also sucked Werthers when he fancied a little sugar pick me up when his mouth was too sore to eat. Just gave him a little boost and the sweetness took away the taste from the operation in his mouth.
Hope the op goes well for him.0
