Huya just wondering if anyone has had a cam belt fitted to a peugeot 306 diesel? Trying to sort out how much it might cost.

Hi.
I had a 306 and i think my Cambelt, Pully, Waterpump and Fan Belt cost £250 supplied and fit but it depends where u go and where u are in the UK. I know on the 306 that when most cambelts are changed the water pump is also needed to be changed as there is a known fault with water pumps leaking on the 306's
Shop around for prices and ask what they will change for that price. I would advise to have the Fanbelt, Camblet, Cambelt Pulley & Tension, Water Pump changed.
I was only going to have the cambelt changed on mine but when i got a price to have the waterpump changed at a later date it would have cost me more so decided to have it all done at the same time as if u want the pump changed at a later date u have to fit a new cambelt and fan belt again most times.

You don't give year or engine size, turbo etc etc but I assume maybe 1.9D or TD? I changed mine myself last year and wasn't too hard, think the cambelt kit (cambelt, tensioner, idle roller) cost me about £70 + £5 for a fanbelt, it took me 2 days to change it but a competent mechanic should be able to do it in 2 - 3 hours as its not a difficult one to do. I didn't do the waterpump as it wasn't leaking and haven't regretted the decision so far touch wood.0

106 diesel was £240 with the water pump, allows worth getting it done at the same time.0
