Cheaper preg tests more reliable than expensive ones?

I have always found the cheapy dipsticks more sensative than the midflow urine tests. Leave it a week and try again with the digital they are not as sensitive as many on the market and will normally only pick up a pregnancy if you are at your period due date or later :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Not at all, unless they do a blood test. Often the doctors tests are less sensitive than the cheapy ones you can buy.

Hi when i was pregnant with my son i did a test (superdrugs own) about two weeks after i had had a period cos i was so sure and it was negative until about half an hour later when i noticed a second line. Binned it as thought it was obv not right then had missed period took test 3 weeks later and i had been pregnant the whole time. Maybe i could have trusted that first one after all.LBM 1.11.09

I used a test from poundland with my last baby and it showed up straight away even tho it was really faint. I hadnt even missed my period yet as well. So it was really good at picking it up2021 Please Be A Better Year0

I used the cheap ones from ebay and they gave me a positive result, im due in 37 days!
These worked out to be like 20p each though lol x0 -
I got three from a 99p store and they all worked, unlike one I paid £4 odd for in superdrug, which didn't show any lines at all :eek:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Crikey - when I tested for my babies they were £10 each! Isn't inflation a strange thing!!!0

The poundland ones seem to be fairly reliable, and the digital ones are less sensitive. But I've found (from years of ttc'ing and getting pregnant numerous times) that Tesco brand have been by far the most reliable that I've seen. Very sensitive and easy to see. And not horribly expensive.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

My doctors don't do a test, if you go and say you are pregnant they take your word for it, my gp actually said the over the counter ones are just as good as the ones the NHS use.
For the record I used the ebay 10 for £2.50(ish) ones and found them to be accurate on early testing (OH still made me go and buy a clear blue before he believed me)MFW Start Sep 07 £79484, Now £587740
