Wondering if anyone can help... give advice or has been in this situation before?
I just got my monthly statement from Very.co.uk. They have charged me £173.41 interest on a Buy Now Pay Later item.... which I have paid in full just before the period ended. I only had 2 items on my account and they were the bnpl items.
Had a look at last months statement, it says ..
""The interest opt out period on your Buy Now Pay Later item(s) is due to expire on your next statement. The full outstanding Buy Now Pay Later cash price is £517.94. To avoid paying interest, please pay the cash price in full and contact us to tell us that the payment is for you buy now pay later item before 23/01/2010. If you choose not to pay the cash price, the full outstanding amount including interest will appear on your next Statement."
My January statement which I received today states that I have paid in full on the 16 Jan 2010. This is before the 23rd of Jan that they stated.
Reading over it again I presume they have added interest because I didn't phone them up to tell them my full balance in my account which was in credit for £517.94 for the BNPL items, so they have charged me anyway. Can they do this???
Do I face facts that I didn't phone them up along with the full payment I transferred to them and I now need to pay the interest?? Or is there a way out of this.... Help/advice needed please. Thanks.

How did you pay them?
I wouldnt necessary say this is the case. The 16th was a saturday. The 23rd a Saturday. This only leaves five banking days. Quite possible the payment didnt reach them in time.
If you had other items on your account and didnt call them to tell them to allocate it then again you could be on dodgy ground.0 -
Anihilator, the OP makes it clear that the statement itself shows the payment in full recieved on the 16th.
I would call them, it may just be an error.:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
