Final bill! Please help
Hi i switched gas/electric supplier in january last year and my old companie sent me a cheque to close the account (money that had built up in my account) well 11 months after my account has been closed they have sent me a final bill for nearly £200. is this acceptable qnd do i have to pay it as im sure to god i dont owe them £200 as i recieved a cheque to close the account. what can i do? need advice quick as they are threatening to sell my debt to a debt collecting agency who will charge me more

If you have your bills from the old supplier check if they are based on estimated or actual readings. There may be a discrepancy which is the reason for the different amounts.
Might be worth writing on here whether you had one bill for both fuels or two seperate accounts also.0 -
If you old supplier has now sent you a revised final bill then you current supplier should be sending you a received set of bills if the reading being used has changed. The rules is that the final and inital readings on Change of Supplier must be equal. Check your bills comply with this. If you have not receive revised bills from you new supplier get on the phone and confirm if they are issuing new bills, give them the new final reading you have from old supplier.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

This bill is for gas only. My current supplier has not changed any bills and my current bills are actual not estimated do i have to pay this £200 all in one go as i cant afford this0
