I don't know if anyone has heard about the £1000 subsidy that the jobcentre give employers if they hire someone?

Well anyway £500 is given when they take someone on and another £500 after 6 months (i think)

So today a women comes into the jobcentre and says that she was meant to start work 2 weeks ago but now couldnt get hold of the employer and that she couldnt find the employer HQ (a cleaning company) the "employer" had been given the initial £500, as the manager dug deeper it turned out this "employer" was fictitous, there are no jobs and no company. And apparently there have been a few reports of this over the past few days.

Now we can probably say these "employers" should be checked out more thouroughly before being given the £500 but then again it makes me mad when crooks like this abuse something that is out there to help people back into work and if it keeps happening this scheme will just be pulled.

they should only give the 500 after the person has been working for at least 2 months would sort that out.

I remember similar abuse which embezzled about a million pounds - with the ILA accounts. Someone set up that they were offering a course to get people into work, and getting ILA to pay 500 per time - it turned out all he did was send to these peoples house a DVD pack (cost of production less than a few quid) home study course - which even that had been pirated from an authentic product.
