Cheapest I've seen TomTom Mobile (the version required for the Smartphone) is £175 from HERE

There are other options too. Route 66 and CoPilot being the most obvious, but they're about the same price HERE

If you want a smartphone with sat nav the Medion MD95282 might be a good choice. Only £125 with software, GPS etc. all included:

Medion Shop - select PDA & Navigation on LHS.

Though to be honest smartphones aren't as effective as PDAs or standalone systems for Sat Nav IMHO. i.e. Smaller screen, small speaker and slower processor.

no i didn't know that, where would i get 1 from and what would i expect to pay for it cheers cash.

Tomtom mobile software for smartphones come with a bluetooth GPS receiver bundled and costs £160-£180.

You could buy a far-eastern imported bluetooth GPS module from eBay for around £40 that would do the job. BUT you will still need software! AFAIK without installing illegally copied software the cheapest navigation software will cost another £80 odd. Not to mention a memory card to store the software only - thankfully only around £15-20.

If you are having to pay a minimum of £140 to Satnav this smartphone it does bring in to question whether there are better options. For example Medionshop have a smartphone with built in GPS and software for £125. Or refurbished standalone GPS systems based on PDAs for just over £100.

Kind of makes you wonder why TomTom priced the Mobile version so highly. Pretty much prices itself out of the market. Why pay £175 just for the software and bluetooth gps when you can get a whole package for much less?
