if i right click, it just comes up with 'edit address' or view address???
theres no 'folder' as such, its just a line at the top of the window with 'my documents' written in it0 -
apologies,,, i found how to do it,,, its 64mb and i havent got a 'my pictures' because its in 'my documents'
another question (probably stoopid) but if i back up some information one day
then 2 days later after doing some more work, back it up again, do i end up with double the information? do i have to delete the original back up? how does the external hard drive just know that im only wanting to back up changes made rather than the whole lot??0 -
I will explain from basics (please dont be offended)
on desktop double click 'my computer'
Double click 'local drive' C:
right click the folder you wish to back up
Select properties
OR
When you double click to open 'my com puter' there should be a tab on the left had said with one saying 'my documents' right click that and select properties
Under the general tab is the file sizeYNWA

the easiest way to backup the files is to right click the my docs folder then select copy
then right click on the memory stick and select paste (can be found in my computer)
if there is a copy of a file on the memory stick with the same name it will ask you if you would like to overwrite it, depending on the operating system it will give you a message such as would you like to replace file xxxx 1/1/09 with file xxxx 1/1/10, and an option to replace all
every file on a computer has a unique name
as you dont have many files you could create a folder for say each month on the memory stick, that way you would have 12 separate copies each 1 month newer than the last0 -
No you dont, it will ask if you want to replace the files with teh same name just click 'yes to all' and you will have only the latest copy savedYNWA

'my computer' isnt here or on the desktop
i have to go to the windows picture on the bottom left, then it has a list of things.
then i click on 'computer'
it comes up with 'hard disk drives' 'acer c' and 'data d'
when i click on acer c, it has a list of folders in it which i have never heard of, none of which are the folders i need to save
ive never understood this laptop0 -
oh, i tell a lie, i have just managed to click on it to show the properties, it says 26gb is used
but how come i cant access 'my documents' from there, weird0 -
Im not sure you want to take a ghost image of your drives.
So i would only backup what you actually need.0
