Could this be the computer for the seniors?
One can't help wondering if Apple hasn't hit on rather a good mix with it's new I Pad product - not so much because of what it can do, but what it can't.
It seems to me that many seniors are put off buying computers because most are overstocked with whizz bang technological features that are either superfluous to requirements, difficult to understand and operate (often because too small - or too large), or too expensive.
Yet when you look at the IPad it seems just right: the size is good, the battery life is long (10 hours) stuff that you only need intermittently (eg a keyboard for emails) disappears in the touch screen. It basically does all you want: you can download and read a book, play music, surf the web, watch a movie, send and receive email, play computer games.
To go on line you can either use free WiFi wherever you are or buy a package connected to your mobile. It has a ptretty design and finally the price looks as though it will be reasonable -£300-£400 by UK standards.
Particularly for travellling seniors, and the Skiing brigade, would you need anything else when on the move?

I'm very embarrassed to admit to being a Gadget Gertie
The only problem I can see with the ipad is that if it's dropped and lands screen side down, like a piece of buttered toast, it won't be a happy gadget as it doesn't have a lid.
Knowing me.............
I think I won't be a new adopter for this......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
