Well we'd already spent 25 mins waiting for someone to see us. We were later for dinner, it was a Saturday night 8pm and the front desk took our details with the promise that an email would be sent out within 2-3 days"onwards & upwards"0 -
Oh I see, well I think if I'd noticed at the time, I would have insisted they rectify the mistake before I paid..BUt that's probably just my confrontational nature :S0

Not everyone has the time to stand around after a big shop to check the receipt for each item scanned(or not), the point is they made a mistake, who knows how many other people had been overcharged on the same till, well done for getting a result. Seems like nowadays we spend more of our time chasing up companies for a follow up to a complaint THEY should be dealing with as it's their fault in the first place.0

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

I do agree with you there about the onus being on the store to prevent this sort of error, although I guess I also can't understand not noticing that the total amount was far higher than expected. I guess not everyone budgets, but I always have an idea to the nearest £1 or so what the total will be, prices are on the shelves and I usually tot it up roughly as I go round to make sure I'm within budget..So I wasn't intending anyone to study the receipt.0 -

I quite agree. It takes up SO much of our time to sort out errors concerned with almost everything we buy it seems.Ellie

I usually have a quick scan through before leaving, just looking at the more expensive items on the receipt as at least this should avoid any hefty overcharge errors, even though some small ones might get missed.0
